Hey everyone,
I've only
met a few of you, and apologize for not remembering many names.
I drive the blue Spec Miata with the red top. I was sorry to see
the autocross dissolve, as the Miata is an excellent car for it!
For anyone
interested in autocross, or other competitive driving, feel free
to contact me or any of the other board members of the Sports
Car Club of Vermont. Although we lost our autocross site in Vermont,
many of us attend events in New Hampshire and New York (as well
as Connecticut for a few of us track-lovers). If anyone knows
of a big empty smooth parking lot please let us know...
Tim Wasilewski,
Roz and I regularly attend autocrosses at New Hampshire International
Speedway (in the parking lot) put on by the Sports Car Club of
New Hampshire and BMW Club White Mountain Chapter. Relatively
low speed racing, one car at a time, great folks, no pressure,
no special equipment or experience necessary, and not too hard
on the cars. If you enjoyed the go-carts, you definitely should
try it. Check their websites for specific dates and we'll hope
to see you there.
As for www.sccv.org
(our club), we are still holding TSD Rallies (also great for inexperienced
folks, not a race) and two track events at the Saint Lawrence
Motorsports Park in Morristown, NY. If you wanted to drive your
Miata on the go-cart track, this one's for you! We drive our cars
on a 3/4 mile long go-cart track! It does require a roll bar because
you get up to about 70 or 80 mph, but it's all surrounded by grass
and also isn't too hard on the car. An absolute blast! Check out
our website for links and more information.
Perhaps we'll
see you at an August or fall event - this summer's booked.
